Young People and Mental Health

Want to know more about the mental health difficulties that are most prevalent in our  young people today? Yes? Then this session is for you!

It is estimated that in every class of 30 children or young people, at least 3 of them will have experience of a mental health difficulty. Adolescence is the time where we learn health-related behaviours and how to look after ourselves, as well as take risks and push boundaries. This is why it is important to understand what challenges they may be facing and be equipped to have conversations with them.

The training will start with the Mental Health continuum and then goes on to unpack a combination of:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Self-Harm
- Suicide
- Eating Disorders
- Psychosis
using different activities to learn what the signs and symptoms are and understand what our young people might be going through.

The session will end looking at a conversation framework, signposting and a chance to ask questions.

This training can be adapted to suit your needs, such as choosing 3 0r 4 areas that are most relevant, or splitting the six areas over 2 sessions.
